Here are places where I get stuff to wear:
Hiking
- LL Bean: For raincoats and winter coats, good quality and warranty. Regular shirts and pants are pricy and not really my style.
- Dickies: Mostly good quality workwear at reasonable prices, long underwear and other stuff.
- Filson: High quality leather and wool. Belts are solid, mine seem like they will last decades (unlike the fake plastic junk from Kohl's).
- Hanes: I never thought to check if they have a website, but they do, so that pretty much eliminates my need to go to Kohls for T shirts, socks, and underwear. They seem to do a pretty good job of taking care of their workers and the environment.
- REI: For trail shoes.
- Varusteleka: Finnish company that has a lot of merino wool. The M05 socks are fantastic for hiking.
Footwear
- Zappos: Free shipping and returns. Good customer service.
- Simple Shoes: The OS Sneaker is a classic 90's style sneaker. They went out of business for a while, and I was sad. They came back, and now I am also sad but for different reasons.
- Merrell: The trail shoes are comfortable and durable, although the waterproofing doesn't last as long as the rest of the shoe.
- Redwings: If you need workboots, this is an excellent place to start.
- Tevas: Have had a pair of them for decades now, including one summer I wore them everyday, and they're still holding up. I heard they were bought out by the same corporation that owns UGGs, and hope they're still good quality.
